Scholarship Recipients

While some of our scholarship recipients elect not to have their information posted on out site, some do. Below are only some of those individuals that have been awarded a scholarship from The Harrington Foundation.

Tyson Crockett
As a future teacher, I feel extremely fortunate to have had some great mentors in the teachers and principals I had in high school. I feel they had a huge influence on moving my life in a positive direction. I would like to be able to do the same for someone else.

Michelle Eckstein
I plan to major in entrepreneurship, international business and human resources. All these careers involve human interaction, a necessary element in my life. While the world offers much competition, I will strive to reach my potential, remembering that no one can take away my pride, integrity or ambition.

Quincy Smith
My goal is to work extremely hard to get a degree in chemical engineering and to be the best student athlete I possibly can be. I appreciate the scholarship and I know I can overcome any challenge. I will stay focused on education, not sports.

Nina DeNio
Not only has the high demand for nurses persuaded me to enter this field, but the opportunity to help people is something that I have always enjoyed doing. I have considered focusing on pediatric nursing because of my love for children, but I feel that I have the qualities to work with people of all ages.

Colin Schwensohn
Receiving the Harrington Scholarship will help an ambitious young man achieve his goals at the College of Biological Sciences at the U of M. As I will be working full time, I may not have to take out student loans. I will make the Harrington Foundation proud that they invested in my education.

Peggy Chien
By obtaining a degree in biomedical engineering, not only can I help give health services to the poor majority who cannot afford them, but also I will to be able to give money to my mother and aunt who have worked direly hard to raise my brother and I without a college degree.

Daniel Schwartz
The scholarship will help me graduate in four years maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.7. I hope to use small town values to assure the integrity of the law profession and to uphold the many freedoms that have made our country great.

Nichole Feuk
I hope to obtain a master’s degree specializing in Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities in an elementary classroom, developing the patience it takes to be an effective teacher in this particular field. I have an incredible passion to succeed and to make a difference in the lives of my students.

Olvin Grande
Born in El Salvador and having lived in the U.S. for only five years, I was very busy working 30 hours a week to help my family. I was the first one in our family to complete high school and I plan to be the first one to earn a college degree. Your scholarship will help me complete a community college degree before transferring to the U of M in international business.

Sandra Johnson
With the help of your scholarship, I am enjoying a double major at St. Catherine’s in St. Paul. Political Science will prepare me to continue in law school. Sign Language Interpreting is a hobby and I interpret the weekly church services for the deaf. This scholarship is greatly appreciated.

Douglas Jacobson
Through my study abroad in Osaka, Japan, I will bring back to Minnesota the knowledge of how to manage and create and organizational atmosphere, which fosters the blending of cultural perspectives and draws from the strengths of the differences prevalent in our current business world.

Christine Eide
Nannying and childcare for a family of six children, including two sets of twins, has required great management and organizational skills. I realize that these skills can also be applied in the business world. The scholarship will help me covert these attributes through furthering my education. Thanks for your help.

Daniel Ley II
I am extremely grateful for receiving the Anne & Mike Vane Scholarship at Summer Sounds. Presently enrolled at Hamline University taking a basic business course, I hope to someday have a successful future in banking or finance. Perhaps then I can help some other student with their financial investment in their future education.

Kimberly Weller
Nelson Mandela summarized the value I place on education by saying, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." I am convinced that by continuing my education and becoming a nurse, I will have a positive impact on people's lives and the power to change the world.
